Another conviction for Poundstretcher

In issue 33 of Safety News we reported that discount store Poundstretcher had been convicted again, after a number of safety failings. Their safety record has been further tarnished by the decision of Southampton Magistrates’ Court to fine them a total of £48,000 for four more offences, along with £9,000 costs.

The company’s previous failings in the Yorkshire area involved blocked exits and aisles. Overstocking, unsafe stacking and blocked exit routes were also behind the recent prosecutions at the Totton and New Milton stores in Hampshire.
