£100k penalty after worker crushed by falling pallets

Storage and distribution company Ralph Coleman International Ltd has been fined £75,000 with £25,000 costs after pallets falling from an over-height stack struck a worker. The employer and other workers were trying to tidy up after the adjacent pile of pallets had also collapsed.

Warwick Crown Court heard that the lack of management control in the yard had led to unsafe practices and the company had failed to give proper and thoughtful attention to the operation of the pallet yard.
